Deal Alert

As you know (or not) January is the annual Quaker promo at Albertsons. When I got my grocery ad yesterday I was;

1. Happy to see the promo!!
2. Disappointed the prices weren't as good as last year
3. Happy that there is a catalina starting on Friday!

This is a stock up deal on Oatmeal. If you check the ad you will see pictured the items participating in the Quaker promo.

5 boxes of oatmeal = 12.50
less instant discount -3.00
less mfr Q (5) $1
cost for 5 boxes = 4.50

But wait!!

Catalina Offer

Purchase any Quaker Oatmeal Products between 1/21-2/18 receive up to $3 on your next purchase:
buy 3, receive $1 OYNO
buy 4, receive $2 OYNO
buy 5, receive $3 OYNO

Purchase 5 boxes for $4.50 get $3 catalina back. Remember, that catalina can be used to buy anything in Albertsons...such as..hmmm. More Oatmeal!

So, buy another 5 boxes of oatmeal, less mfr coupons and instant savings. Then when you go to pay the $4.50, use your catalina for $3 of it and pay only $1.50. then you get another $3 catalina! I usually do this until I run out of coupons. For a list of available coupons check the data base at afullcup.com. I purchased 20 on ebay.

With NO COUPONS this is still only about $1 box, only .30 each with coupons.

by Friday we should know if we will get double coupons for Albertson which will make this deal all the sweeter.

With my last catalina I think I will buys some of the Aunt Jemima syrup :)

Hey All

So, I know it's been a while since I've offered any posts about anything interesting..today is no exception, lol!!

Seriously, I have had a few peeps asking me whats going on out in coupon deal world and I wanted to get you all up to date on a few things.

Riteaid, my dear Riteaid. The $5/$25 coupons are no longer available at this time but all is not lost. If you have signed up for a video values account at Riteaid.com then you may know that you can still get a $4/$20 coupon as well as 3 $1 off anything coupons which gives you $7 free money out the gate. To get the $4 coupon (for this month anyway) you just watch all the videos in the "beauty" section. To get the 3 other coupons you watch the videos in the "special offers" section.

Now, assuming you have $7 mad money to spend, let the games begin...

There are a couple ways to roll the money at Riteaid. Many of the products offer up+ rewards which, when combined with manufacturer and/or store coupons can net you some amazing deals. I personally have purchased over $100 this week and have only paid sales tax.

Case in point: this week we have Tylenol Precise heat patches on sale for
$5 each, followed by an up+ reward of $3. The coupon I have is from a recent newspaper insert and is for $5 off of 2. So if I buy 4 heat patches for $20, after my manufacturer coupons(i have two) I pay $10 ( $7 of which comes out of my "money" I got from watching videos), the other $3 if you are just starting out will be cold hard earned cash. So you pay your $3 and then the register spits out more "money" for you to use...in this case $12! You recieve $3 for each Tylenol patch, remember?

Now, you have spent $3 of your green money, You have 4 Pain Patches and you have $12 Riteaid money that can be used for anything in your pocket.

I'm outta time but in essence, rinse and repeat. We will do this over and and over in one form or another.

I will go into more detail about the other deals to roll in another post but right now I gotta go slap on a Tylenol patch (ahhhh, did I mention I LOVE these things??)and get dinner on.

ps, If you are sweet enough to stop by, please leave me a comment so know you were here. I blog more often if I think somebody is reading it!!

What can you buy when you're coasting on fumes??

I peeked into my checking account and realized...gee I'm broke! That has never stopped me from shopping though, haha!

Here is what I bought...

I bought $264.oo worth of goods for $0 plus tax ($21.00). I submitted rebates in the amount of $39.00, so ultimately am making $18.00 by taking this stuff!! This is an example of "rolling your transactions" to get stuff for free.

I made a video scan to show details of all the stuff but can't get it to upload :/

Back to School :)

I can't believe it's that time already but apparently it is because I keep getting mail from Harmony Elementary and Pacific Middle School.

This last week at Safeway we had an opportunity to get boxtop for education catalina's and at the time i didn't think too much about it, it seems like such a small thing...

However, I received a welcome letter from Harmony today and in it it says that last year we alone (via various fundraisers etc) as a school raised $25,000 to be used in our school. This paid for;

Additional field trips,
New playground equipment and PE equipment,
New Library books,
Summer Reading program (the library was open in the summer for activities etc..
Art Discovery Program
All School Read (this was really fun last year, every child in the school receives a brand new copy of a chosen book and the whole school reads it together and has related activities and discussions etc.
Additional educational materials for staff

Wow! I can't wait to send in my boxtops!

Lentil Soup

Over the years, I have had so many requests for this recipe I have lost count!

When Brian turned 1, I remember vividly stepping on the scale and seeing that my last 28 lbs of post pregnancy weight was still with me. At that moment i decided to part ways with it as it no longer served me to maintain the relationship.

Over the following months the weight slowly started to disappear and I can partially credit this wonderful soup. It's hearty, filling and satisfying. I would make a big batch and freeze in serving size containers.

This recipe makes 14 cups. Each cup has;
111 calories
127 mg sodium
less than 10% fat and high in fiber

4c. low sodium chicken broth (if not watching your sodium you can use bouillon)
4c. water
1 c. dry lentils, rinsed
28 oz can whole or chopped tomatoes (I always chop) with juice
6 oz. tomato paste
1 Tb brown sugar
1 c. each; sliced carrots, italian green beans (or a bag of frozen mixed)
1 large onion
3 cloves garlic (or a big spoonfull of jarred garlic)
1 c. small dry pasta (you could also use rice)
1 bay leaf
1/2 tsp each; basil, oregano, thyme, black pepper and marjoram ( sometimes use 1 T. Italian seasoning)
1/4 c. wine vinegar

In large pot combine broth, water, lentils, tomatoes, tomato paste, brown sugar, vegetables and garlic.
Bring to a boil, lower heat, simmer 30-45 minutes.
Add 2 more cups of water, pasta, spices and vinegar, simmer 30 minutes.

If you are going to freeze some, now is the time to do it before the pasta gets too soft. If you are not going to freeze, you can put it in a crockpot and just leave it on low so people can serve themselves as they roll in the door :)

Since we are nearing fall, I thought it would be a good time to share this wonderful recipe. Again.

xo,

G
