I have people ask me if we live on all that free cereal, haha! So I thought I'd let you take a peek in my kitchen to see what's REALLY going on...
Something I have done forever is buy ground beef on sale, cook it all up with onion, garlic, salt and pepper and put it in appx 2 cup increments into my freezer. This is 6 lbs of 15% fat ground beef I bought b1g1 last week at safeway and after my $2 off coupon (remember I got that for "buying" hamburger helper?)it cost me $8.
This particular night I am making tacos, so I take 1 or 2 of those pkgs of cooked meat out of the freezer, dump it in my humble but loyal crockpot with taco seasoning.
You may recognize some of these items from your own kitchen :) Remember Tostitos were $1, the cheese came from my freezer, I bought 20 bags back when they were free (i posted this deal in Jan.)the bag of lettuce was $1 this last week at Safeway, I used my Albertsons doubles to get the Guacamole for $1 and the sour cream was on an overstock sale for $1.19 and I doubled a .50 mfr to get it for .19.
At Riteaid last week, soda was 4 for $10 so i purchased 8 for $20, used a $5 off of $20 so thats about .16 cents per can. I don't remember the exact price of the tortillas but I did double a .75 mfr to get them appx $1.19.
And the salsa, another signature food I make often, made with those near free cans of hunts tomatoes and .69 cilantro.
All of this was under $7 and it is enough food for at least 10 servings.
note; the frozen meat can be used for lots of different quick meals. put some in a crock pot with a can of tomatoes and a can of beans for chili. add some to one of your jars of free Ragu (remember? from Safeway??)and boil noodles for a spaghetti dinner. Round it out with some of those super cheap pillsbury biscuits we got catalina'd out on and some free green giant vegetables from the "chill" promo.
I know you have a freezer full of steam n mash potaotes (they were FREE)so make a shepard pie! You see where I am going with this?? Endless options for quick inexpensive meals! And save the cereal for breakfast ;)
That's my mom! You love how you have capitalized on this couponing and are making amazing meals with what you get :)
